Where in the world have I been you may ask, but I doubt if you do.
I know, I know, I supposed to be skipping February and to be honest this would be a good February to skip.
It’s been colder and greyer this year than in the recent past. We have had record breaking temperatures and I admit to hermiting (yes, I’m inventing that word) more than usual. I went 7 days without leaving the house. To be fair, we were snowed in!
I have now climbed out of my hermit hole and am ready to take on the year 2026. Just a little background, not only do I “skip” February, but I reserve my New Year for February 1st. Yes, I do ring in the New Year at the official time of midnight, January 1st and then I take the entire month of January to think about what I want the New Year to be. No resolutions, but dreams and goals. Personal qualities and improvements that I want to spend time on, accomplishments I would like to work on achieving and a deep dive into what I had planned for the year before, how I did with that and if I want to continue on that path or make adjustments and changes for this year. I do some cleaning and organizing, put Christmas away and really take my time getting ready for what the universe decides to throw at me in the future year.
Several years ago, I decided the week between Christmas and New Year was a bonus week. Enjoy my decorations, my gifts, fit in some visits and more celebrating. Then I transitioned into the New Year the first week of January, but as I have gotten older, I have found that a month is much needed.
So here I am ready to check back in, share some thoughts and insights and hopefully be more consistent with my blog posts. YES, that one is on the list every single year. Last year was my most successful, I made it half the way through. Baby steps as they say, I’m hoping this will be year I make it to December with my posts.
Now, here I am just beginning Lent, and there is no better time to get this blog back on my agenda. Discipline and internal retrospection are some of the key elements of this season but also the first small inklings of Spring and the promise of warmer weather (YEA!!!) and the beauty of rebirth. What better time to start a New Year.
Please let me know what you are hoping and planning for this year. I’ll be back in touch sooner rather than later.
